The 38th Annual Congress of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia
The 38 th Annual Congress of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia (CSE) was successfully held from
February 20 to 21, 2026, under the theme “Chemistry for a Better Future: Addressing
Contemporary National Challenges,” at Kotebe University of Education. This two-day event
brought together leading chemists, researchers, industry professionals, and students to discuss the
vital role of chemistry in national development. During the congress, the Chemical Society of Ethiopia honored distinguished individuals for their pioneering contributions to the field of chemistry. The awards were presented to:

Prof. Shimelis Admasie, Prof. Desta Mebratu, and Prof. Negussie Reta
The event was attended by over 150 participants representing industries, higher learning institutions, professional societies, and members of CSE. The congress featured five plenary
lectures and 34 scientific paper presentations.
